These cute little guys will usually be portrayed to look a bit like fantasy dwarfs and, in most cases, will have bushy beards and long pointy hats. They can come in many different visual varieties, but learning to draw a gnome is a great way to imagine your unique gnome!
If this sounds like something you want to know how to do, then this will be the perfect tutorial. We hope you have a lot of fun working with us on this step-by-step guide on how to draw a gnome in just 6 easy steps! You can draw many more characters like how to draw batman, Anubis drawing, cat drawing, cobra drawing, blueberry drawing, coconut drawing and many more drawing for kids.
Step 1:
We’ll create a classic representation of a gnome in this guide on how to draw a gnome. In this first step, we’ll start with the outline of his head and the classic pointed gnome hat he’s wearing. You can start by drawing a small rounded shape for her nose. Next, we’ll draw two large circles on his nose. These will form the comically large glasses he wears. Then you can use curved lines to finish her face outline. Finally, finish this step by drawing your top hat on your head. It will be so high that the tip will fall slightly to the side. Then we can continue with step 2 of the guide!
Step 2:
Once the outline of the head of this gnome drawing is complete, we can start adding some facial details in this second step. First, draw a few small circles inside your glasses for the eyes, then add even smaller circles inside for the pupils. You can also add details like eyebrows and lines around the eyes. Then finish her face by adding her mouth. To conclude this second step, we will draw his bushy beard under his face. This will be drawn using jagged lines to give it a nice, bushy look.
Step 3:
In this third step of our guide to drawing a gnome, we will draw its arms and chest. Use more curved lines for the long sleeves of your shirt; then, you can add a little hand at the end of each sleeve. We’ll also draw a small garden shovel in his left hand to fit in with the gardening theme. Once you’ve completed her arms, we’ll outline her chest and waistline before moving on to step 4 of the guide.
Step 4:
We’ll finish the outline of this gnome drawing in this step, and that’ll prepare it for the final details in the next. To do this, we will draw its short little legs. These will be drawn with more curved lines, and they will be so short that it will almost seem like there are none at all. You can then finish this step by drawing her rounded shoes at the base of her legs. To further emphasize the garden theme, we’ll draw a small flower on her shoe on the left. Then we’ll be ready to add the final details we mentioned as we move on to Step 5!
Step 5:
You filled in all the outlines of this image in the previous step of this guide on how to draw a gnome, and in this step, you will add the final details. In our reference image, we finished off this small intestine by adding a few smaller lines throughout the image. These lines will add more texture to the image. Once you’ve added these details, you can continue drawing! One way to do this would be to add a background or change the details to create a unique gnome! If you’re feeling a bit ambitious, you could draw some unique gnomes around this one. How are you going to finish this gnome drawing?
Step 6:
This is the last step of your gnome drawing, and we’ll finish it with some colors! You can choose many different colors to finish it, and in our reference picture, we show you only one set of colors for you to choose from. We used yellows, greens, and browns for his clothes; then, we used reds for his pointy hat. You can use these colors if you like this color scheme, but feel free to use any other colors you like too! When coloring this gnome, we recommend watercolor paints for a more understated classic look, but what colors and mediums can you use for this image?
